The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility is pleased to announce the selection of Evan Krasner, M.D. as our new full-time Executive Director.

Dr. Krasner received his MD from the University of Maryland and trained in internal medicine in Chicago and North Carolina. After completing a program at Johns Hopkins in tropical medicine and public health, he spent time working as a volunteer physician in Ecuador and Bolivia while also practicing ambulatory medicine in Providence, Rhode Island. Since moving to the Bay Area, Evan has been writing and editing professionally, and recently had a story accepted for publication in a national literary magazine. He comes to PSR with a deep commitment to social justice and health equality. As Evan has stated,

“We are at a critical juncture. Without a concerted effort toward altering our current course—an injurious path that raises anew the specter of global nuclear proliferation and pushes us toward the tipping point of environmental degradation and climate change—we will miss an opportunity to avert a future of unprecedented human suffering. I am honored to have the opportunity to help build on the significant accomplishments of this chapter, and join PSR as it leads the way to a more healthy and equitable world.”

The Chapter Steering Committee and Staff would also like to extend our fondest appreciations to Marj Plumb, Dr.P.H, for seven years of service to the chapter as our administrative consultant. Through Dr. Plumb’s stewardship the chapter has been able to focus and expand our program work, grow our steering committee and membership, and strengthen our administrative structure. We are fortunate that Marj will continue her support of the chapter through a more limited role of mentoring and supporting Evan in his new position.

Robert Gould, M.D.

President, SF Bay Area PSR
