Wishing you HEALTH, HAPPINESS, and PEACE this holiday season!
DECEMBER 13, 2023
More than ever before, our health voices are making a difference, and that gives us hope.
Your gift today will help us bring the combined power of community activism with the knowledge and credibility of health professionals to promote public policies that support our intertwined areas of focus: climate action, environmental justice, and peace.
Health voices are making headlines and helping lead the climate movement! For the first time at COP28, 60 health ministers and high-level government representatives met to discuss the health impacts of climate change. Also, more than 130 countries signed a declaration about climate and health. And though the declaration is not nearly enough, one thing is for sure, health professionals, including PSR and many younger professionals, are spearheading efforts to address our public health climate crisis.

As of December 13, we are so close—only about $5,000 away from our end-of-year goal. Please GIVE HERE TODAY and your gift will be doubled!
Health professionals and advocates are leading voices in the peace movement too! The medical and public health consequences of the violence against civilians in Israel and Gaza have been and continue to be horrendous and catastrophic. Recently, the SF Bay PSR board supported this Call to Immediate Action to Address the Violence in Israel and Gaza and Its Health Consequences, initiated by the Peace Caucus in affiliation with the American Public Health Association (APHA).
Also, SF Bay PSR Board President Dr. Robert M. Gould participated in a conversation with APHA leaders during the recent annual meeting in Atlanta on The Role of Public Health Professionals to Respond to and Prevent Wars. The discussion explored: What are the diverse public health impacts of war, and how can public health professionals most effectively deal with the inevitable consequences? And most important—what can public health and other health professionals do to prevent wars and other violent conflicts from occurring, while laying the groundwork for a healthy future for all?
